Tragedy strikesOctober 20, 1977
On Oct 20, 1977, just three period after the release of “Street Survivors,” the band was brief from a show in Town, South Carolina, to Baton Blusher, Louisiana, when their chartered segment ran out of fuel.
Picture plane crashed in the provinces five miles outside of Gillsburg, Mississippi, killing band members Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, as well as backup chanteuse Cassie Gaines (Steve’s sister) tell off road manager Dean Kilpatrick.
